Tense and grammar problem: Are this sentences consistent?

He didn’t dream as he slept like a baby. He had no idea that there were eyes watching over him as he lay down on a church bench. The church might be called the House of God but God lives in the heavens above and not on a structure built by mortals. Milton is clueless that he was surrounded by entities who consider that place as their own home.
