I need help with a family legal matter?

Does anyone here know California Family Law very well? My husband and I would like to terminate guardianship that his sister has over my stepson's child. Currently my sis in-law has the child who is 5 yrs. old. He is in an environment where there are gang members hanging around and drug use (her son is involved in this-not only that he also has d our daughter and there is a police investigation going on). My husband was told (by another family member today) that the guardian has talked to her worker for the case and that she shouldn't worry because we didn't fight the case when she first petitioned for the gaurdianship and that the judge won't take the child from her because they have bonded. What are our chances? We want what is best for the child...can anyone talk to me through e-mail to help? PLEASE?
