Our 13 yr old son is flunking out of 7th grade and we, as parents, want to do everything possible on our part?

Hate to raise this question,, but have you had him tested for substance abuse?? This is a biggie and many parents don't consider it as a possibility. Also are there any mental health resources in your area? If so you might want to take him for an evaluation. What is going on with you and his dad may have been a trigger for something. If the teachers have said come in do that! They will welcome your support and dont worry about him being embared in front of his peers. I am raising a 14 year old grandson alone (recently widowed). My promise to him is that if I have to come to school one more time for bad behavior I will show up dressed like a crazy bag lady and make sure all his friends see me. He is vastly improved:). Made the same threat to his Uncles and his Dad (all 5 of them) Good luck!
