Anyone had a partner who was a jerk during pregnancy but then came around once baby came?

Things were GREAT but then I got smacked in the face with an unplanned pregnancy and refused to abort (which he was upset about). He is still around and plans to be involved in the baby's life but is a jerk and hurtful 80% of the time. Everytime I see him he says that he is scared so I'm sure that this is the reason why hes being like that. (Although its immature b/c hes in his early 30s) I've ranted about him on Y!A before and a lot of women say "GET CHILD SUPPORT!!!" But I dont want to make umptions yet that its going to have to get to that point. I'm just trying to be neutral right now and see how it is when the baby gets here...and then take actions from there. Anyone else experience this and then the father actually came around in the end? Thx in advance
