Do you find it offensive when a younger man calls an older man "buddy"?

I'm 32 now and I even remember when I started out in the business world at about 22 I had a bad habit of reffering to other men as "buddy" In some way it felt like that I was trying to relate to them like it made me feel a bit closer to their age bracket but in reality I was just a young kid trying to fit in with the older guys. One day my dad called me on it, and said "Son a 60 year old man doesn't want you to be calling him buddy, even if you do mean it friendly. Frankly I think it's kind of disrepectful too" Now it irks me when young fresh out of college types say "Heyyyyy Buddy how can I help you?"
