Is this a good idea for a book?

I think it needs cleaned up a bit, tie up some loose ends. Like, how did no one ever find her at Maria's house? Why didn't Maria's parents turn her in? But, I think it sounds interesting. Also, I like what happens at the end. Every so often I like a book that isn't all happy sunshine at the end.
