Does tech (like the net and Y!A) that helps kids cheat and reduce their effort, cause teachers to be apathetic

In a world where essays are pre-written, answers are available for research on the net... or handed to students on a silver platter, like what happens here on yahoo answers... and all the other conveniences that allow students to stop learning and put in less effort.... does all of that make formal education more meaningless? Students just go through the motions for 12 years of their life. Does school become more difficult as a result, in response to the added resources? Or do teachers quit fighting the lazy-trend and become more apathetic to the education process?
